After being nominated for the Most Powerful Youth Advocate, Vanshika had the opportunity to champion the Girls Lead ACT, a bipartisan bill aimed at fostering girls’ leadership and political participation through U.S. foreign assistance. This bill held special significance for me, having witnessed firsthand the severe disparities in women’s employment opportunities in impoverished areas. These disparities often force women into unsafe environments, leading to outcomes like child marriage, increased health risks, and higher women death rates.
My role promoting this bill was talking to senators on both the left and right to get support for the important work being done with the Girls Lead ACT.
