Vanshika talking about her poetry:
Opening a blind institute is a project that has been inspired by my own grandmother’s experience. After suffering from a stroke, my grandmother lost all mobility in her left side, including eyesight. Adapting to her new way of life was a challenging experience for both her and our family. Watching my grandmother struggle with vision loss made me realize the importance of specialized education and resources for individuals who are visually impaired. This inspired me to establish a blind institute that can provide tailored support and services to those in need in her hometown of Bihar, India.
Through the blind institute, individuals with vision loss have access to education and training on mobility, technology, and independent living skills. They also receive counseling and social services to help them navigate the challenges that come with vision loss. By offering these resources, we can help individuals regain their independence, build confidence, and improve their overall quality of life.
This is the first blind institute to be opened in Patna, and thanks to the donations of local restaurants, the patients constantly have a healthy meal. As someone who has experienced firsthand the struggles of vision loss, I am committed to creating a supportive and inclusive community that values the abilities and contributions of all individuals, regardless of their vision status.
